Ernest Lee Norris Jr. was born on January 13, 1939 to Ernest Lee Sr. and Hazel (Foss) Norris in Darnestown, Maryland. Ernie spent his youth hunting, fishing and doing anything he could to be outside. On his 17th birthday he enlisted in the Marines, having decided that he could get the structure he needed to succeed in life while there. His unit was discharged 19 days prior to the beginning of the Laotian Conflict.
He worked several occupations in the following years, ending with a supervisory position with the Montgomery County (Maryland) School District. He retired in 1994 and spent the following years doing what he loved-hunting, fishing, trapshooting, playing golf, traveling and riding his Harley-to mention a few.
On February 24, 2011 Ernie was united in marriage to Mary Ann Krull in Tennessee.
Ernie recently moved from Florida to Marble Rock, Iowa to be surrounded by wildlife and not by the exploding population of Florida. He wanted his wife to be with her sisters in their last years.
Ernest Norris is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Marble Rock, Iowa. He was a father to five children: Jami (Mike) Harich of Sumerduck, Virginia, Victoria Norris of Dudley, Pennsylvania, Michael Marceron of Poolesville, Maryland and Jennifer (Jay) Wilson of Apollo Beach, Florida. He was also a grandfather and great-grandfather to numerous. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Justin Norris.
Ernie will be remembered for his high principals, integrity and kindness to others. For those planning an expression of sympathy, you may wish to consider memorials to Cedar Bend Humane Society, 1166 W Airline Hwy, Waterloo, IA 50703 or to Wounded Warriors at http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org
