AMES – The Iowa State Cyclones welcomed fans to MidAmerican Energy Field at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames Saturday for homecoming festivities, but the #11 BYU Cougars spoiled the party, winning the game 41-27.

Iowa State’s 17 first-quarter points were its most this season, and helped the Cyclones build a nice lead. It is the most by ISU in a first quarter since the 2023 game against BYU. Cyclone quarterback Rocco Becht tossed a 75-yard touchdown pass to Brett Eskildsen on the first play of the game, and things looked rosy for Iowa State.

ISU had 318 yards of total offense in the first half, its most in a first half since 2022.

The Cyclones had not trailed at home this season until BYU scored 17-unanswered points to take a 27-24 lead in the third quarter.

BYU threw for 307 yards, snapping a 21-game streak of Iowa State not allowing a team to throw for 300 yards going back to the 2023 Liberty Bowl against Memphis.

Iowa State’s four turnovers were the most in a game since having five against Oklahoma State in 2022. Becht’s three interceptions were the most of his career and just the second multi-interception game of the last two seasons.

BYU’s 410 yards of total offense were just the second time this year the Cyclones have allowed over 400 yards of total offense.

This was the fourth-straight sellout of 61,500 at Jack Trice Stadium, the first time ISU has sold out four-straight games in this configuration. Of the 21 sellouts of 61,500 in school history, 19 have come under Campbell. The Cyclones have had at least 50,000 fans at 88-straight games at Jack Trice Stadium, a streak that goes back to 2011.

Iowa State (5-3, 2-3 Big 12) will face Arizona State (5-3, 3-2) on Saturday, Nov. 1 at noon (CT) on TNT at Jack Trice Stadium. The game is simulcast on truTV/HBO Max.
