ARLINGTON – Two drivers were injured after a rear-end crash in a Highway 3 construction zone southeast of Arlington, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash was reported at about 6:07 a.m. on October 24, 2025, on Highway 3 near Alberta Road, approximately five miles southeast of Arlington.
According to the sheriff’s office, Frank Lee Goedken, 66, of Lamont, was driving a red 1979 GMC truck and was stopped at a red traffic light along a construction site on Highway 3. Investigators determined Jayden Charles Rouse, 20, of Maynard, was driving a white 2006 Chevrolet Impala LS and collided with the rear of Goedken’s truck.
Both vehicles were considered a total loss.
Goedken was injured and transported to Regional Medical Center in Manchester. Rouse was also injured and was taken by personal vehicle to MercyOne Hospital in Oelwein.
Rouse was cited for failure to stop within an assured clear distance.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Strawberry Point Ambulance, the Strawberry Point Fire Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
