Jerry Taylor, 70, of Greene, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at his home while under Hospice Care. Woodley Funeral Home of Greene is caring for Jerry and his family. Public Visitation will be 12:00 – 4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 19, at Woodley Funeral Home, 519 N. 1st St., Greene. Following the visitation the family will continue to celebrate his life at the acreage outside of Greene.
Jerold Louis Taylor was born December 14, 1954, in Charles City, a son of Louis and Pearl (Ford) Taylor. He was raised on a dairy farm near Shell Rock with his five brothers and two sisters. He attended Waverly Shell Rock Schools then was a crane operator for Vose and John G. Miller Company.
For a short time Jerry was married and had a son, Joseph. Later he was married to Linda Williams at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Zachary and Stacey were born to this marriage. He worked for Hobson Brothers in Shell Rock in the Pattern Shop. In 1992 Jerry along with his brother-in-law, Dennis Hobson, started American Tool and Engineering in Greene.
Jerry enjoyed time with his family and anything he could do outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time at the pond. Trips to Woman Lake in Minnesota with children and grandchildren were special times.
Left with fond memories are his children: Joseph (Tammy) Taylor; Zachary (Autumn) Taylor; Stacey (Seth Chambers) Taylor; grandchildren: Timothy Taylor; Korey Taylor; Braxton Taylor; Carsten Taylor; Skyler Davis; Trinity Davis; Brandon Davis; Annmarie Chambers; brother: Tom (Pam) Taylor; sister: Kathy (Dennis) Hobson; sister-in-law: Donna Taylor; nieces, nephew and other relatives and friends.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, wife Linda, brothers Larry, Chet (Judy), James (Jeanie), Bill (Judy), sister Barbara (Chris) Gilchrist.
