Todd Blodgett Opinion: Democrats put Guyana alien in charge of Iowa schools for revenge on MAGA supporters

Democrats often claim that illegal aliens don’t attain high status, well-paid positions, or can register to vote in elections, and only take jobs US citizens don’t want. But try telling that to the applicants who were rejected by the Des Moines public schools system, which, in May of 2023, hired illegal alien Ian Andre Roberts, from Guyana, as their Superintendent. This connivingly deceitful fraudster pulled off this travesty because Democrats smoothed his way. Of the seven Board members who hired Roberts, all of whom were female, not one was, or is, a Trump supporter. Its current chair, Jackie Norris, previously had served as the chief of staff to former First Lady Michelle Obama and currently is seeking the Democratic nomination for US Senate. This preventable catastrophe was years in the making.

But make no mistake: Leftists who pushed DEI and other ‘woke’ policies didn’t merely enable it – such fools caused it. In 2014, President Barack Obama unwisely ended ICE’s Secure Communities program, which effectively dismantled its efficacious internal Immigration Enforcement system. Replacing it was the Priority Enforcement Program (PEP), which narrowed the focus of internal enforcement toward convicted criminals and those deemed to be threats to national security. Doing so eradicated the already in-place safeguards which would’ve detected Ian Roberts before he ever even made it Iowa. These changes covered noncitizens who had been issued a final deportation order on or before January 1, 2014 – but not after. Essentially, the Obama-Biden administration, having dismantled what was working, substituted progressive policies, which opened the door for under-the-radar lawbreakers like Roberts, who benefitted from multiple, avoidable loop-holes. Roberts illicitly refers to himself “Dr”, despite lacking the Ph.D. he falsely claimed he’d earned. Charlatans like this sleazy malefactor are the exact kind of illegal alien whom Democrats protect – and in Iowa, as elsewhere, they succeeded, in spades.

This parasite not only deceived his way to a $300,000 annual salary, but his ex-employer (Erie, Pennsylvania’s Millcreek school district) was forced to pay to settle three lawsuits totaling $403,500 in damages against him. Roberts’ arrest exposed the numerous lies he’d fabricated and proved the futility and evil of liberal immigration policies and procedures. This fiasco also shows why President Trump’s mass deportations are essential. This perp’s con job isn’t a rare, isolated example. It exemplifies the inevitable results when Democrats, who intentionally undermined US immigration controls, don’t take seriously the vetting requirements vetting and procedures designed to preclude such from ever transpiring.

Roberts was even registered to vote in Maryland for the entire time he worked in Des Moines; he’d racked up gun charges and in 2024, had prior drug convictions, and a federal judge signed his final deportation order, while Joe Biden was President. When he was caught by ICE and Iowa cops, Roberts illegally possessed a loaded handgun and a hunting knife. After speeding away, he abandoned his school district-issued vehicle and tried to hide in a wooded, bushy area. But the former Olympian – who represented Guyana as a long-distance runner – was no match for the officers and their canines. Once those dogs were after Roberts, he lasted about as long as a cricket in a henhouse.

Let’s face it: most Democrats, particularly those holding public office, WANT such people here. They were shell-shocked by Donald Trump’s victories and realize that the quickest way to replace the tens of millions of working-class voters who now support the GOP is to import aliens from wherever they come from – including illegals. Roberts wasn’t even legally eligible for employment on US soil when he was hired as the Superintendent, and the Board members KNEW he LIED about his credentials. Yet, they nonetheless hired him.

Think about that. They knowingly employed a proven liar, and never informed the voters. He’d pled guilty to gun charges in Pennsylvania, which could’ve easily been uncovered by a qualified vetting firm. However, these clueless board members wanted to believe Roberts was too good to be true – which he was. Chairman Jackie Norris claims that she and the other board members were “victims” of Mr. Roberts, and suggests we show “radical empathy” to this greedy fraudster.

Uh, WHAT? Sorry, sweetie – that ain’t gonna happen.

You and your kind are problems for us; the reality of your existence is troubling. The fact that these pathetic excuses for public servants are still in charge and have yet to leave Iowa shows how far we’ve fallen. May God help us.
