Janice was born February 24, 1948, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Homer Lee and Dorothy “Babe” (Polen) Womack. She grew up in Vincent, Iowa, and graduated from Eagle Grove High School.
On February 4, 1967, Janice was united in marriage to the love of her life, Thomas Lindner, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. The couple made their home in the Clare and Fort Dodge area before moving to North Bend and Fremont, Nebraska, where they lived for nearly 30 years raising their family. Together, Janice and Tom were blessed with four children: Mike, Theresa, Janel, and Angela. In 2007, they returned to Lakeside Acres in Clear Lake, the town Janice cherished.
Janice was a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Her ministry was one of hospitality and love—her door was always open, and if you entered, you were family. She was known for feeding, comforting, and laughing with all who gathered in her home.
Janice adored Tom, and together they shared a life filled with music, dancing, and time spent with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She left this world with no fear and no regrets, certain in her faith that when loved ones join her in eternity, she will be waiting with a potluck, a warm embrace, and a place at the table.
Janice is survived by her husband, Tom Lindner; her children, Micheal Lindner, Theresa (Mike) Johnson, Janel (Harvey) Grossinger, and Angela (Terry) Galli; twelve grandchildren and bonus grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a passel of advocates who lovingly called her “Grandma Jan,” “Mom,” or “Mayor.”
She is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Dorothy Womack; step-father, Grigg Elkin, Richard & Rita Lindner, brother, Roger Womack, her sister, Darlene Lindner; sister and sister-in-law, Patty (Bill) Ferry; five of their spouses. Her angel baby Jamie, several special family friends, Geogia & Wally, “Keith” Greve and Richard Limbach.
