Douglas Stephen Foxhoven, 67, of Estherville, Iowa, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025. He was born on March 14, 1958, in Spencer, Iowa, to Alvin and Mary Foxhoven.
Doug was a simple man with a big heart, a gentle giant who touched countless lives. He had a deep love for freedom, America, and the open road, especially when riding his Harley. His passion for bald eagles reflected his own free spirit, and his joy in life was found in the simple moments; cooking for family and friends, volunteering with the Salvation Army, taking his grandkids fishing, and spending time with his beloved dogs. He was a man of generosity and quiet strength, always ready to lend a hand or share a smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Mary Foxhoven, and his sister, Pam Foxhoven.
Doug is survived by his son, James Ford, and grandchildren, Tasha and Jacob Ford; his siblings, Kim Cross and her children John Paul and Kristina, his brother Dave Foxhoven and wife Pat, and his brother Mark Foxhoven and wife Louise; his life partner, Michelle Foxhoven, and the children he helped raise, Sarah VanderVliet, Stephanie Yurgilevich, and Jeremy Schmitz.
To know Doug was to love him. His spirit will live on in his family, his friends, and the many lives he touched. He will be remembered for his love of freedom, his generous heart, and the joy he brought to others.
His family will gather privately to honor his life, share memories, and carry his love forward in their hearts.
