Julie Ann Mohler, 76, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospital after a battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday October 1, 2025, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City, IA.
Julie was born on December 20, 1948, in Mason City, the daughter of George Oliver and Imogene (Whitney) Emmert. Julie grew up in Mason City, where she graduated from high school before beginning her career with Armour in quality control. Dedicated and hardworking, she eventually pursued nursing and earned her LPN, though she returned to quality control and later retired.
In time, Julie met and married George Russell “Rusty” Mohler. The two shared many adventures together, often traveling to pool tournaments. Rusty was the competitor, while Julie was his constant and loyal supporter.
Family was always at the center of Julie’s life. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who rarely missed a child’s or grandchild’s sporting event. She had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved dog, Gibbs. Julie also enjoyed basketball and could always be found cheering on the Indiana Fever. She liked the excitement of an occasional trip to the casino and took pride in her holiday traditions, particularly making her famous peanut butter balls and chocolate turtles at Christmastime.
She also found joy in quieter moments, especially reading romance novels. Julie also treasured the friendship of Marcia Harris, with whom she shared a bond that began in grade school and carried on throughout her life.
Those who knew Julie will remember her calm demeanor but also how she had a way of being feisty at the same time, some would even call it “spice”.
Those left to cherish memories of Julie are her son, Shane (Polly) Emmert; grandchildren, Blake (Mariah James) Perry, Jacob (Larissa) Emmert, and Molly Emmert; great grandchildren, Riley Mewes, Archor Perry, Emberleigh James, Azleigh James and Jaran Emmert; sister, Deb Paulson; nieces, Nicole Balderas and Rochelle Ketchum; longtime friend, Marcia Harris; as well as other extended family and friends.
Julie is preceded in death by her husband, Rusty; daughter, Colette Lynn Perry; grandson, Hunter Perry, and brother-in-law, Dan Paulson.
