LOUISA COUNTY, IOWA – This Iowa man is accused of following his elderly mother into the shower and committing the most heinous of acts, and now the frigid waters of justice are cascading down upon his flowing locks.

On Tuesday, September 15, the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office received reports from a 67-year-old woman that her son, who she lived with, had sexually assaulted her the previous day. The woman was unable to drive, and was transported by authorities to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She told deputies that her son forced his way into the shower and assaulted her. The man was identifed as 33-year-old Duane Martial Crossett III.

Evidence collected during an investigation indicated that a sexual assault had occurred.

Following the victim’s release from the hospital and ensuring she had a safe place to stay, deputies returned to the home and spoke with Crossett, ultimately arresting him.

Crossett (pictured at top) was charged with:

  • Third degree sexual abuse, a class C felony

  • Intentional elder abuse, a class D felony

  • Incest, a class D felony

  • Sexual assault causing bodily injury, a class D felony

  • Domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor.

Crossett is currently being held at the Louisa County Jail on a $26,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 29.
