Richard Johnson, 90, of Lowell, Arkansas and formerly of Williams, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at his home in Lowell, Arkansas. Funeral services will be 10:30 on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williams with burial in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Williams.

Richard William Johnson was born on July 23, 1935, in Webster City, Iowa, to William and Gladys (Greenfield) Johnson. He graduated from high school in 1954 and went on to serve his country with pride, enlisting in the United States Army in 1957. He served active duty for two years through Fort Lewis, Washington, and then returned home to serve in the Army Reserve in Webster City for the next two years.

On November 11, 1959, Richard was united in marriage to Helen Hames in Williams, Iowa. Richard was employed with the Iowa Highway Department, where he dedicated many years of service.

He is survived by his brother Gerald Johnson of Stratford, Iowa; brother Alvin Johnson of Story City, Iowa; sister Clara Watt of Independence, Iowa; sister Karen Kockorsky of Fort Dodge, Iowa; nephew Marty Johnson of Stratford, Iowa; niece Kristi Ahrens of Stratford, Iowa; nephew David Johnson of Osseo, Minnesota; niece Kira Kistner of Story City, Iowa; nephew Troy Johnson of Stanhope, Iowa; niece Trisha Kress of Quasqueton, Iowa; niece Lauri Sells of Grandville, Iowa; nephew Tim Clifford of Dover, Arkansas; nephew Scott Clifford of Ackley, Iowa; niece and care giver Denise Hertz of Farmington, Arkansas; great niece and care giver Samantha Lynch of Centerville, Arkansas, great niece and Goddaughter Chelsea Johnston and her husband Eric, both care givers, of Springdale, Arkansas, great-niece and care giver Lauren Escobar of Lowell, Arkansas, and great-niece Morgan Engstrom of Bella Vista, Arkansas. He is also survived by numerous great-nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Helen; and his niece, Laura Clifford Lynch.

Special thanks to his great niece, Lauren Escobar and great great niece, Maddi Escobar, for being his primary full-time care givers for more than a year before his death.
