Merissa Marie Hogan, age 31 of Algona, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 in Newton, Iowa. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona, Iowa from 3:00- 4:00 pm with a service beginning at 4:00 PM and will be livestreamed on Lentz Funeral Home’s website: https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/merissa-hogan. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Algona.

Merissa Marie Hogan, the daughter of Melissa Friedel (Hamell) and Dale Proctor, was born on December 26, 1993 in Leon, Iowa. She attended the Des Moines public schools. Merissa married Christopher Hogan on February 2, 2022 in Algona Iowa. Merissa loved spending time with her family and close friends. She loved singing as well as listening to music. She loved photography. She loved nature, camping and fishing. Some of her most precious moments were the births of her six children. Sissy loved being a mom more than anything! She cherishes her children, nephews, nieces and baby brother.

Left to cherish her memory are her beautiful children; McKenzie Jenkins, Isabella Jenkins, Caylee Jenkins, Tucker Jenkins, Thatcher Hogan, and Larissa Hogan. Her current husband Christopher Hogan and father of her younger children, her first husband and father of eldest children, Jacob Jenkins. Her mother Melissa (Dale) Friedel, her father Dale Proctor. All of her siblings; Jennifer Proctor, Teion Houge, Atlantis Houge, Destiny Proctor, Ryan Holmes Jr (RJ), Nick Axiotis, William Freeman and Lindsey Freeman. Her grandmothers Ronda Davis and Linda Proctor. As well as her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her brother Christopher Axiotis, baby sister Serenity Hamell, baby cousins Lynn Stiner and Marshall Miller Jr (MJ). As well as her grandparents Darrell Proctor and Mike Webb. Her great grand-mother Maxine Hamell, Her great grandfather Ronald Hamell Sr and great grandparents Bill and Opal Pearson, Roxie and Vernie Proctor, and Eva and Paul Palmer.
