July 15, 1945 – September 6, 2025

Karol Joy Mosiman, 80, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025, in the comfort of her home.

A Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St NE, Mason City, with Pastor Jane Harris of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation open to the public one hour prior. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Karol was born July 15, 1945, on the family farm in Cowell, Iowa, to O. A. and Melinda (Niemann) Mannetter. The fifth of seven children, she attended public school in Cowell and Charles City, then attended NIACC after graduation. She married after college, resulting in two sons, Jeff and Jerry, with another son, Jason, born later in life. Karol held many jobs throughout her life, but primarily worked in healthcare, as an aide, a CNA, and in janitorial roles. Later in life, she developed a love for cleaning, working on a farm and at the Top of Iowa Rest Stop as janitorial staff.

Karol was a strongly independent and fiercely personable individual. She loved the connections she made with others, whether that be in the hospital, at the rest stop, or in her own neighborhood. Her quirky sense of humor was welcome in any and all conversations she stepped into. Her favorite color was purple, and she dreamed of one day painting her house lavender.

One of Karol’s favorite pastimes was being involved in Civil War reenactments, which she would travel all over to take part in, from Wisconsin to Minnesota. She loved dressing in period pieces, setting her tent, and simply enjoying the activities present there. Karol loved square dancing as well, going so far as to drag her son Jeff out dancing every Sunday. Sewing and other crafts were also dear to her. She began to watch Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers games in the 1990s, primarily as a way to connect with her sons.

Karol is survived by her sons, Jeff (Shelley) Mosiman and Jason Mosiman; grandson, Garrett; brothers, Alan and Kenin Mannetter; and sisters, Muriel Kempf and Jan Shepley.

She is preceded in death by her parents, O. A. and Malinda Mannetter; her son, Jerry Mosiman; brothers, Lynn and Ron Mannetter; and daughter-in-law, Tammy Mosiman.
