George “Andy” Andrew Strobel Jr., 61, of Clear Lake, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at Oakwood Care Center. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Andy was born on May 2, 1964, in Norton, Kansas, to George Strobel and Katheryne Rockey. He grew up in the Mason City area and attended high school in both Northwood and Mason City, where he earned his diploma.
Fishing quickly became one of Andy’s greatest joys. From an early age, he shared countless trips with his dad to favorite spots like Lake Okoboji and Spirit Lake, memories he treasured even after losing his favorite lure in Clear Lake. He also had a deep love for tractor pulls and truck pulls, always enjoying the excitement and community that surrounded them.
Those who knew Andy will remember his easy smile and his outgoing spirit. He never knew a stranger and had a special way of making everyone feel like a friend. Lighthearted and full of joy, he left a lasting impression wherever he went.
Andy is survived by his father, George Strobel; mother, Katheryne Rockey; cousins, Lorie (Max Jr.) Campbell, Patty (Martin) Shafer, and Robert (Andrea) Rockey; and his aunt, Novette Rockey.
He was preceded in death by his cousin, John Rockey; aunts and uncles, Kathy (Willie) Rockey, Michael Rockey, and Patrick Rockey; as well as his grandparents, George Rockey and Wilma Jacobs.
Andy’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, his many friends, and all who were fortunate enough to share in his laughter and kindness.
The family extends a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at Oakwood Care Center for the compassionate care and kindness they gave Andy.
