Byron C. Plummer, 70, of Boone, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Byron was born November 7, 1954, in Des Moines, the son of Merle and Arlene (Beals) Plummer. He attended school in Bonne and graduated with the Class of 1974.

On June 23, 1974, Byron was united in marriage to Debbie Vickrey at the First United Methodist Church in Boone. To this union a daughter was born, Jennifer.

Byron worked for Dekalb Seed Corn in Boone, for 41 years. He enjoyed travelling, tinkering around in his garage, collecting numerous types of tools, mowing, decorating for the holidays, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tom Plummer.

Byron is survived by his wife of 51 years, Debbie Plummer; daughter, Jennifer (David Henry) Reynolds; three granddaughters, Taytem Reynolds, Kaydence Reynolds and Haylee (fiancé, Nick Neer) Reynolds; two great-grandchildren, Vienna and Maxon Neer; sister, Lynann Plummer; and sister-in-law, Teresa Boyd.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. The funeral service will be Friday, September 5, 2025, at 10:30 AM, at the funeral home, with Rev. Adam Gordon officiating. Burial will be in Boone Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Boone.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone.
