BREMER COUNTY – One person was killed and five persons hurt and hospitalized after two pickup trucks collided in Bremer county.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a collision between two pickup trucks occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, August 24, 2025, at the intersection of 190th Street and Piedmont Avenue in Bremer county. The Patrol says that a 2022 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driven by 47-year-old Lal Pui Puia Sai Lo of Des Moines, Iowa, was struck by a 2018 Ford F-150 driven by 82-year-old Trivonia Drewis of Waverly, Iowa, after the Ford failed to stop at an intersection.

Hming Chunga, a 51-year-old from Des Moines, was one of five people injured in the crash The accident, involving two vehicles at the intersection of 190th and Piedmont Avenue, resulted in the death of Lungawia Chalthleng, 41, of Urbandale.

Other injured parties included Esther Sui Iang, 47, of Des Moines; Lal Pui Puia Sai Lo, 47, of Des Moines; Marvin Drewis, 83, of Waverly; and Trivona Drewis, 82, of Waverly.

Killed in the crash was 41-year-old Lungawia Chalthleng of Urbandale, Iowa.
