WEST UNION – A group of teens and young adults apparently swigging cold ones met law enforcement after the alleged main culprit smashed his 2024 pickup truck into a Ford Escape.

On August 21, 2025, at approximately 1:01 AM, Fayette County Deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident at a residence in rural West Union. Upon investigation, it was determined 19-year-old Luke Joseph Langreck of Lawler, Iowa, was driving a 2024 GMC Sierra when he backed into a 2022 Ford Escape driven by 21-year-old Cameron Marie Hermen of Elgin, Iowa. No injures were reported.

Due to the collision, the GMC Sierra sustained functional damage while the Ford Escape is believed to be a total loss.

Langreck (pictured at top) was arrested and transported to the Fayette County Jail. He was charged with:

– Operating While Intoxicated

– Possession of Alcohol Under the Legal Age

– Supplying Alcohol to Minors

Two juveniles, a 16-year-old male and a 14-year-old male, were also found to be in possession of alcohol and were referred to Juvenile Court Services.
