JoAnn Harper Reed, 92, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, formerly of Clear Lake, Iowa, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025, at Sunrise Assisted Living. A private family inurnment will be held at the Clear Lake Cemetery in Clear Lake, Iowa.
JoAnn was born August 17, 1932, in Kennard, Nebraska, the daughter of William Richard and Pearl Augusta (Wilderson) Reed. She graduated from Kennard High School and was united in marriage to Donald T. Reed on June 24, 1955, at First Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Together they were blessed with three children: Julie, Greg, and Larry.
Over the years, JoAnn worked in the offices of Kemmerer Marine and Castle Cap & Gown before joining the Clear Lake School System as a library assistant, where she retired. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Peace Circle, and the Clear Lake VFW Auxiliary.
JoAnn is lovingly remembered by her children, Julie Hartwell of Minneapolis, MN; Gregory Reed of Maple Plain, MN; and Larry (Amy) Reed of White Bear Lake, MN; grandchildren, Eric Hartwell (Katie), Marcus Hartwell (Bailey), Taylor Reed, Zachary Reed, Alex Reed, and Sara Reed; great-grandchildren, Bentley, Odin, Cooper, Rowan, Rhys and Jude; sister-in-law, Darlene Harper, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Pearl Harper; her husband, Donald Reed, sisters, Patricia Brour and Gwen Lee Hansen along with her brother, William Harper, Jr.
