Ronald “Ron” Crooks, 79, of Charles City, passed away Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City.

Ronald Leroy Crooks, the son of Robert Ray Crooks and Eva Mae Rudbeck, was born in Floyd County, Iowa on September 26, 1945. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1963. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War in 1965 and was stationed in Korea. Ron was united in marriage to Denise Bunn Kolbet on July 6, 1981, in Miami, Oklahoma.

Ron worked for Sar Hybrids for many years, then worked for Pfizer until retiring in 2011. He was an avid bowler for 50 straight years in the State of Iowa Tournament. Ron loved hunting and fishing with his family and enjoyed trapshooting, NASCAR racing, taking the puppy on a ride in his UTV, and watching his grandchildren play softball and baseball.

Ron is survived by his wife, Denise; sons, Darin (fiancé, Faith) Crooks and Dustin (Christie) Crooks; stepdaughter, Jennifer Cross; grandchildren, Cora, Colton, Madison, Hailey, Allie, Carley, Cole, Easton and Emmersyne; brother, Daivd (Maralee) Crooks; sisters, Jan (Duane) Wheat and Diana Clites; along with many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Eva Crooks; and brothers, Alden, Keith, Kenny, and Gerald.
