Johanna DeVries, 83, of Ackley, passed away Friday, July 18, 2025 at UnityPoint – Allen Memorial in Waterloo. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ackley. She will be laid to rest at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass. Woodley Funeral Home of Iowa Falls is caring for Jo and her family.
Johanna Louise (Jo) DeVries was born on August 28, 1941 to George and Dorothea (Willard) Luebbers in Hampton, Iowa.
On May 28, 1960 Johanna was united in marriage to Leo DeVries at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Geneva, Iowa.
Johanna loved spending time with her family. Her biggest joy was any family gathering with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Johanna DeVries is survived by her husband, Leo DeVries of Ackley, Iowa; children, Brenda (Ron) Boelman of Ames, Iowa, Kenny (Jen) DeVries of Nevada, Iowa, and Linda (Randy) Haynes of Minneapolis, Minnesota; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
