June 21, 1959 – July 12, 2025

David Flick, 66 of Algona, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2025, at his home in Algona. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish – St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Algona at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, starting at 9:30 AM in the Presentation Center at St. Cecelia until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM.

David Joseph Flick, son of Joseph and Josephine (Gebel) Flick, was born on June 21, 1959, in New Hampton, Iowa. David graduated from Waterloo Columbus High School with the class of 1977. After graduation, David attended Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo where he earned his Electronics Degree. On June 25, 2004, David was united in marriage to Shirley (Koch) Wolf at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. He worked for North Iowa Mechanical. In his earlier years, David worked at the Airport in Waterloo where he also enjoyed flying.

David was a kind and gentle soul with a big heart. He was a handyman and loved a challenge. He could fix almost anything. He made many good friends as a Customer Service Representative for NIM over the last 22 years. Dave loved traveling, he and Shirley had many memorable vacations together. In his spare time, he would enjoy an occasional round of golf with Shirley, always hoping to improve his game. He took great pride in and enjoyed working in his yard and spending time at home. He loved all his children and grandchildren and treasured the time he spent with them. David was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church.

Left to cherish David’s memory are his wife of 21 years: Shirley of Algona; daughters: Tammy (Ed) Emkes of Cedar Falls, Amy (Joe) McNish of Weatherford, Texas, Wendy Richards of Evansdale and Jenny (Jeremy Pratt) Flick of Waterloo; sister: Deborah (Darwin) Bentley of Waterloo; step-children: Nicole (Scott Looft) Foertsch of Algona, Chad (Lindsey) Wolf of Bellbrook, OH and Casey (Josh) Riley of Dawson; fifteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three nieces; two nephews and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Josephine Flick.
