TERRIL, IOWA – A convicted Iowa sex offender out tooling around in his Ford Focus sideswiped an unsuspecting, elderly man on a bicycle in this remote Northern Iowa location, causing him to crash and suffer severe injuries.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that was reported July 7, 2025 at 3:12 PM on County Road N-14 (310th Avenue) near the intersection with County Road A-34 (220th Street).
Riley Jackson, age 26 of Terril, Iowa, was driving a 2010 Ford Focus southbound. Jackson was passing a southbound bicycle ridden by 82-year-old Larry Anderson of Estherville, Iowa. The vehicle and bicyclist side swiped in the same direction and the bicyclist lost control and crashed.
Anderson was transported by Ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with incapacitating injuries and then flown to another hospital.
The accident remains under investigation.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Dickinson County Emergency Management, LRH Ambulance, Milford Police, Terril Fire and Rescue.
Back in 2021, Jackson was convicted of sexual abuse in the third degree against an adult female victim in Dickinson county.
