September 18, 1960 – June 13, 2025

Sherri L. Olson, 64 of Glenville, MN passed away peacefully at her home Friday, June 13, 2025 surrounded by loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

A Celebration of her life will be held 11:00am Saturday, June 28, 2025 at First Lutheran Church, 140 3rd Ave SW, Glenville, MN 56036 with Rev. Eileen Woyen officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the services.

Sherri will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony at Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville, MN.

Sherri Lea Franksain was born on September 15, 1960, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the daughter of Esther Franksain. She graduated from Albert Lea High School with the Class of 1979 and learned the value of hard work early on, holding jobs at the Best Western and later at Farmstead, where she stayed for many years. She was blessed with three beautiful children, Colleen, Brandon and Cody.

In the early 1990s, Sherri met the love of her life, Ricky “Rick” Olson. After a long and loving courtship, they were married on March 20, 2003, in Albert Lea. Together they built a quiet life filled with simple joys: afternoons fishing on the lake, trips with her sisters in search of a good bargain, and peaceful days spent side by side with her beloved Labrador, Reese. Wherever Sherri was, Reese wasn’t far behind. The two were inseparable.

Sherri had a gift for making others feel cared for. Whether volunteering at Ruby’s Pantry or gathering with family at Granny’s house, she was at her happiest when surrounded by people she loved. Her kind, joyful spirit touched everyone she met. She was always thinking of others—always smiling, always giving.

But above all else, Sherri adored her family. Her greatest joy in life was becoming a grandma. She spoiled her grandchildren every chance she got, showering them with affection, attention, and love that only a grandma like Sherri could give.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Sherri’s doctors, nurses and caring staff. You made all the difference during these difficult times.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Rick Olson of Glenville; children, Colleen Olson of Glenville, Brandon Franksain of Albert Lea and Cody (Gabby Ryan) Olson of Glenville; grandchildren, Jaden, Maleah, Mason, Jaxson and Leanah; sister, Patricia (Steve) Swanson of Albert Lea; brother, Gary Franksain; Rick’s siblings, Donna Stuck, Val (Gary) Buchanan, Ronda (Steve) Satre and Rod Olson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many cherished friends.

Preceding her in death are her mom; grandparents; Rick’s parents, Rodney and Leah “Granny” Olson; in-laws, JoAnn Vogel and William Struck; a nephew, Jeremy Satre; as well as many aunts, uncles and friends.
