Jonatan Bello-Calles, 35, formerly of Hampton, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at his home in Ankeny, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Hampton Gospel Hall. Interment with Veteran’s Honors will be at Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, at the Hampton Gospel Hall. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory, Hampton is caring for Jonatan and his family.
Jonatan was born April 1, 1990, in Veracruz, Mexico, a son of Juan and Georgina (Calles) Bello. At a young age his family moved to Hampton where he professed his faith through salvation on August 5, 2007. He attended and graduated from Hampton-Dumont High School in 2008.
Johnny served in the United States Marine Corps from September 22, 2008-September 21, 2013, and was honorably discharged and remained in the Marine Corps reserve from 2014-2018. His pride and joy were his three children. Johnny was proud to be sworn in as a United States Citizen in 2024.
Johnny worked as Maintenance Supervisor at Mrs. Clark’s in Ankeny.
He enjoyed spending time with his kids and Marine comrades. He was great at giving others a hard time and was quick at making new friends.
Left to remember him are his parents: Juan & Georgina Bello, Hampton; children Ezekiel and Natalie, Hampton; Quinn and her mother, Caitlin Ryan, of Peoria, Illinois; brothers and sisters: Haynnis (Jeremy) Taylor; Juan Bello (Jr); Jessica Milca Bello; Nancy Bello and Edgar Bello and several nieces and nephews.
Johnny is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Paula Baez Ramirez.
