SWALEDALE, IOWA – A Swaledale woman was hurt when her Buick Encore collided with a deer standing in the road.

On May 21, 2025, at 08:40 PM, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s office responded to a single vehicle collision at the intersection of 150th Street and Jonquil Avenue. Authorities say a gray 2023 Buick Encore driven by 63-year-old Joyce Anderson of Swaledale was traveling eastbound on 150th Street when she collided with a deer that was in the roadway.

As a result of the collision, the Buick had significant front end damage and the airbags were deployed. Anderson was treated on scene for minor injuries from the seatbelt and airbags.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Swaledale Fire & Rescue, Rockwell Fire & Rescue, and R&R Towing.
