HAMILTON COUNTY, IOWA – A Mason City man died Tuesday when his Ford Fiesta struck a semi and then struck another semi on Interstate 35 near Williams.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. At 2:42 PM that afternoon, 68-year-old Reed Peterson of Mason City was driving his 2019 Ford Fiesta northbound on Interstate 35 near Williams at the 147 mile marker when the vehcile crossed the center line and struck the rear trailer tires of a 2000 model Volvo semi driven by 37-year-old Serghei Gornostali of Bartlett, Illinois. The Ford Fiesta was then struck a second time by a Freightliner semi driven by Funugo Nsanzinfura of Louisville, Kentucky, and it finally came to rest on the inside lane. A 2016 GMC Yukon driven by 23-year-old Caleb Jacobsen of Dows, Iowa, was also drug into a ditch during the collisions.
As a result of the accident, Peterson was killed.
