Jeanine Marie (Gerbig) Wogstad Kockler, 91, of Hanlontown, IA, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025 at Manly Specialty Care Center in Manly, IA.
Funeral services will be 12:00pm, Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Grace Lutheran Church, 302 E 4th St, Hanlontown, IA 50444. She will be laid to rest beside her first husband, Clayton Wogstad, in London and Deer Creek Cemetery in Northwood, IA.
Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, Friday, May 9, 2025 at Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E Spring St, Manly, IA 50456 as well as one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Jeanine was born February 18, 1934 in Mitchell County, IA, daughter of Roy and Mary (Adams) Gerbig. She graduated from Little Cedar High School with the class of 1951. She enjoyed playing basketball while in high school. After high school on August 22, 1959 in Albert Lea, MN, she was united in marriage to Clayton Wogstad. They had two wonderful daughters Janet and Sandra.
Jeanine spent many years camping every weekend with family and friends. She enjoyed baking and was known for her pies. She enjoyed helping her daughter Sandra at food stands for auctions. She also enjoyed going to her granddaughter’s tractor pulls and her favorite state pull was the Kansas state pull. She also loved to take care of her great-grandkids.
The family opened the Corner Inn Restaurant in Hanlontown in the early 80’s until her husband passed away in 1986. When she closed the restaurant, she moved to Colorado with her sister and husband. In 1993 she moved back to Hanlontown. She reunited with an old family friend, Henry Kockler, and they wed on August 17, 1996.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Janet Taylor and Sandra (Rick) Scholbrock; grandchildren, Madalyn Franks, Meggie (Mike Christenson) Taylor, Crystal (Tony) Brower, Katie (special friend Molly Rolling) Scholbrock; great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Darley, Levi, Storm, Bailey, and Brinly; step-grandchildren, Theresa, Kenny, Linda, Sherry, Roxanne, and Michelle; special friends, Janet Benson, Clayton Rye, and Dan Franks; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Preceding her in death are her husbands, Clayton and Henry; parents, Roy and Mary; siblings, Melvin Gerbig, Lloyd Gerbig, Rosemary Ellis, and Lenord Gerbig; step-children, Clinton Wogstad, Robert Wogstad, and Susan Blacksmith; and step-grandchildren, Ann and Dawn Wogstad.
