Denise Elaine Mason-Hennigar, 62, of Kensett, Iowa, passed away April 28, 2025 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota with her loving husband by her side to the very end.
The family will hold a private celebration of life in June.
Denise was born June 23,1962 in Mason City, Iowa; daughter of Hobson “Hob” and Mable (Freim) Mason. She graduated from Clear Lake High School and later attended NIACC for several years. Denise was a numbers girl and could run quadratic equations in her head without needing a spot of ink or paper. She worked as optometric assistant and later as a CNA. Her passion and ambition in the healthcare field only grew as she sought out work as physical therapy assistant and later a pharmaceutical assistant. Denise met the love of her life, Scott Hennigar and they were united in marriage June 17, 1995 at Lakeside Church in Clear Lake. While Scott was on the road, Denise put her skills to work; finishing their home, garage and basement.
Denise enjoyed playing pool and riding horses. She was a long-time member of the Mason City Women’s Pool League. She and her husband loved traveling to different trails with their horses, particularly Minnesota, Iowa and parts of Wisconsin. Their travels didn’t stop there as they explored much of the world together. They enjoyed travelling to the Carribean the most. Denise had a passion for cars, owning and showing her 1967 Meyers Manx Dune Buggy brought out her competitive spirit. She would never turn down a karaoke opportunity; Neil Young and Pink Floyd were her favorite artists to sing to.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Scott; many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, friends and extended family; and beloved dog, Elvis.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hob and Mable.
