Eileen Thompson, 76, of Ames and formerly of Williams, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williams with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be an hour before the service. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.
Eileen Ann Thompson was born in Webster City, Iowa, on September 17, 1948, to Harry (Bud) and Irene (Schweppe) Solberg. She attended elementary school in Williams and graduated from Northeast Hamilton with the class of 1966. Eileen then went on to AIB in Des Moines, IA and Iowa State University in Ames. Eileen worked as an accountant at the National Farmers Organization in Ames, Iowa and retired in 2018.
She loved to travel to lots of places with her daughter Wendy. She loved visiting family and friends out of state, craft shows, quilting and going to the movies. Her biggest joy and love was her daughter Wendy and wherever you saw her you saw Wendy. Eileen loved taking Wendy to her special Olympic swimming and softball events. Eileen loved her family and friends. She will be so missed by Wendy and all of us.
Eileen is survived by her daughter Wendy Thompson of Ames, Iowa, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Linda Solberg of Williams, Iowa, nephew Nathan Solberg of Clive, Iowa, and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Irene Solberg, niece Amanda Solberg, and both sets of grandparents.
