CHARLES CITY – An arrest, conviction, jail, large fine, along with other difficulties like loss of license and drunk driving school, are sometimes just not enough to dissuade intoxicated drivers from putting other people’s lives at risk.
The Charles City police department conducted a traffic stop on March 29, 2025. At about 11:40 PM that night, officers stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of Gilbert Street. After an investigation, they arrested 45-year-old Santos Salinas of Charles City for the following offenses:
– OPERATING WHILE INTOXCIATED (OWI)- 2ND OFFENSE
– DRIVING WHILE REVOKED
– FAILURE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL
Salinas was jailed and soon released, pending a court date. He was arrested back in May of 2024 in Chickasaw county for OWI first offense. He was jailed, then convicted and lost his drivers license, ordered to complete drunk driving school, and ordered to pay $1,646.25 to Iowa courts.
