Richard L. Dumire, 67, of Sumner, and formerly of Waterloo, died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at his brother Kenny’s home in Sumner.
A visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Sumner with a time for memory sharing at 6:00 PM. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial in Richard’s name to Shriners Hospital for Children or the Salvation Army.
Richard Lee, son of Richard N. and Marie (Riker) Dumire was born January 29, 1958, at Schoitz Hospital in Waterloo. He attended Wapsie Valley High School and graduated in 1977. Richard served in the United States Army and U.S. Army National Guard for over twenty years. On May 24, 1997, he was united in marriage with Neva “Trish” Barton in Independence. Richard began his working career at Waterloo Industry prior to Iowa Ham, working for area farmers, and Ewie. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.
Richard is survived by his sons, Jonathan Dumire of Maynard, Shane (Wanda) Dumire of Masonville, Benjamin Dumire of Anamosa, and Christopher Dumire of Winthrop; six grandchildren, Jillian, Timothy, Allyssa, Isaiah, Christina, and Gabriel Dumire; mother, Marie Dumire of Tripoli; siblings, Kenneth Dumire of Sumner, Karol (Kevin) Marvets of Readlyn, Peggy Dumire of Tripoli, and Lynn Dumire of Tripoli, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard N. Dumire; wife, Trish; daughter, Leann Dumire; and maternal and paternal grandparents..
