Fred Schneider, 84 of Algona, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish – St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. A family only inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Algona. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona. Frederick John Schneider, the son of George A. and Arlene L. (Woodrow) Schneider, was born on February 3, 1941, in Woolstock, Iowa. Fred attended Sentral High School and graduated with the class of 1959. After graduating, he enlisted into the United States Air Force and served 1959 to 1964. Fred was united in marriage to Marlene Reising on May 20, 1967, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wesley. He was employed by Van Diest Supply in Webster City as an electrician until his retirement in 2012.

Fred was strong in his faith and he treasured his family. His strength and clever wit will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, brother and so many who knew him. Fred was a fan of the Hawkeyes and Vikings, enjoyed being close to nature, fishing, hunting, and traveling to the mountains. His pup, Ginger, was never far from his side. Fred was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

Left to cherish Fred’s memory are his wife of 57 years: Marlene; children Amy McGuire of Algona, Jim (Julie) Schneider of Farmington, MN, Steve (Julie) Schneider of Altoona, Dennis (Angie) Schneider of Eagle River, AK, Jerry (Sherry) Schneider of San Diego, CA and Jason (Sara) Schneider of Nevada; fourteen grandchildren; brother: Richard Schneider of White Plaines, GA and many nieces, nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Arlene Schneider.
