Galen L. Nuss, of Readlyn, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 17, 2025, at his home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Readlyn Fire Station. Inurnment will be at St. John Lutheran Church-Buck Creek Cemetery, rural Sumner. Memorials may be made in Galen’s name to the Readlyn Fire Department.
Galen Lloyd, son of Lloyd and Dorothy (Kappmeyer) Nuss was born August 29, 1961, at the Sumner Hospital. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church-Buck Creek, rural Sumner. Galen graduated from Wapsie Valley High school in 1979. While in high school, he participated in football and wrestling. In 1993, he was united in marriage with Kim Kohagen at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Readlyn. The couple would later divorce. Galen began his professional career at the Readlyn Co-Op, prior to Denver Construction, Terex Cranes, Black Hawk Rental, and Quality Distributors, where he retired in 2019. He was a faithful member of the Readlyn Fire Department for thirty-one years. Galen enjoyed fishing, hunting, and fabricating products.
Galen is survived by his two children, Jessica Novak of Hazleton and Jerrid Nuss of Readlyn; two grandchildren, Coral and Corbin Novak; siblings, Glenda (Bob) Eubanks of Solon, Gary (Jody) Nuss of Carrolton, Illinois, Gail Hart of Holly Springs, North Carolina, and Gene Nuss of Guttenberg; three nieces; three nephews; and aunt, Marion Wilharm of Bremer.
In addition to his maternal and paternal grandparents, he was preceded in death by his parents; and many aunts and uncles.
