Texas van driver killed in Iowa Interstate traffic crash

IOWA CITY - A can driver from Texas traveling through Iowa lost control of the vehicle and smashed into a semi-trailer in a fatal auto accident.

IOWA CITY – A can driver from Texas traveling through Iowa lost control of the vehicle and smashed into a semi-trailer in a fatal auto accident.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on February 12, 2025. At 9:05 PM that evening at the 252 mile marker of Interstate 80 in Johnson county near Iowa City, troopers responded to assist other emergency responders for the incident. They say a 2020 Mercedes Sprinter van driven by 34-year-old Enoch Z. Mampuya of Haltom City, Texas, was eastbound on Interstate 80 when the van went out of control, entered the median and struck a semi-trailer from a previous crash.

As a result of the collision, the driver, Mampuya, was killed.
