Doris Ettna Christensen, daughter of Henry and Reka (Ihnen) Poppinga, was born September 24, 1927, in Graettinger, Iowa.
She received her education in rural country school. On November 22, 1947, Doris was united in marriage to Dale Christensen at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Graettinger. The couple farmed west of Graettinger until they moved to Lakota in 1966.
Doris worked as a waitress for many years. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and Mary Circle. She enjoyed working in her garden and planting flowers. Doris looked forward to spending time with her family and friends, especially with her loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Doris died Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Accura Healthcare of Bancroft. She was 97.
Doris is survived by her children, Carolyn (Christopher) Cruickshank of Maricope, Arizona, Robert (Becky) Christensen of Georgetown, California, Steven Christensen of Lakota; also, by seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale Christensen on October 2, 1993; daughter, Debra Kiewiet; granddaughter, Jennifer Kiewiet; brother, Alvin; and two sisters, Arlene and Vivian.
