Darrell Linn Adams, age 91, long-time Iowa Falls business owner, was born on June 19, 1933 to Leo and Beulah (Simpson) Adams. He passed away on February 5, 2025 at Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls. His life will be celebrated with a visitation on Monday, February 10th, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 11th, at 11:00 AM at the church, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Darrell will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at the Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial donations to the family for memorials to be established in his honor. Woodley Funeral Home of Iowa Falls is caring for Darrell and his family.

Darrell grew up in the Iowa Falls area and attended country schools, graduating from Iowa Falls High School in 1951. He was active in wrestling and was honored with the 1951 Athletic Achievement Award.

He served in the U.S. Army for two years, primarily stationed at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, where he worked as a Demolition Specialist. Darrell was also assigned to Special Services as a boxer and was proud of his undefeated record, including a victory over Walter Winfrey, the All-Air Force Champion.

After returning from the service, Darrell worked for Ralston Purina in Iowa Falls for 20.5 years as a Production Foreman. In 1960, he and his brother, Darwin, founded Adams Brothers Auction House in Iowa Falls. The brothers expanded the business to include new furniture and real estate. The business was originally located on East Rocksylvania Avenue until it was destroyed by a fire in 1992. The business moved downtown and has remained there ever since. Darrell continued to own and operate Adams Brothers for 65 years until his death.

Darrell married YuKona (LaVelle) in 1957, and together they celebrated 62 years of marriage until YuKona’s passing in 2020. They raised five children together. Darrell and family spent many weekends at horse shows racing poles and barrels. Darrell was an avid wrestling fan and supporter of the Iowa Falls Cadets and Independence Mustangs Wrestling programs. Darrell was a faithful and active member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed attending church and his Sunday School class each week. He was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years and served on the Board of Directors of Timberview Housing. Most of all, Darrell was a proud East Sider and a spirited advocate for Iowa Falls.

Survivors include his five children, Linn (Joanne) Adams of Iowa Falls, Bret (Jane) Adams of Independence, Shawn (Judy) Adams of Iowa Falls, Michelle (Corey) Meints of Iowa Falls and Tyler (Shelley) Adams of Des Moines; grandchildren: Amanda (Zac) Hanson, Lauren (Shane Boden) Adams, Hannah (Tom) Brayton, Brianne (John) Schipper, Caitlin Adams, Blaire Garber, Nate (Kali) Adams, Sarah (Wes) Ennis, Chelsea (Peter Marasco) Adams, Ryan Adams, Makenna Meints and Rosemary Adams; fourteen great-grandchildren; his brother, Darwin Adams of Iowa Falls; along with nieces, nephews and many friends.
