OBIT: William “Bill” Loberg

William “Bill” Loberg, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 30, 2025. A memorial service for Bill will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 7, 2025 at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church.

William “Bill” Loberg, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 30, 2025.

A memorial service for Bill will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 7, 2025 at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church, with Pastor Bill Peters officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial of his urn will follow the service at the Silver Lake Church Cemetery.

William Carl Loberg was born March 14, 1950 in Albert Lea, MN to parents Bennie O. and Gaythel E. (Howard) Loberg.

He was baptized and confirmed at Silver Lake Lutheran Church. He graduated from high school in 1968 from Lake Mills Community School, and later graduated from Waldorf College in 1970, and then completed 1 year at Mankato State University.

Bill married Jeanne Appelquist on April 21, 1973 at Ascension Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN. They lived in Albert Lea for one year, and then purchased the family farm in Silver Lake where they raised their family. They had two children, Sherri Lynne and Ben William, and two grandchildren, Wiley Harang and Karalee Jeanne Senjem.

He worked at Universal Co-op from 1972-1985, and then at Streater’s from 1985-1987. He became a Shaklee Ind. Distributor, and also was a school bus driver for Northwood-Kensett Public Schools from 1992-2015.

Bill was very active at Silver Lake Church as a council member, choir member, and sexton for the cemetery. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, singing, and playing adult rec volleyball – well into his 60’s! He also loved telling stories and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by both parents; son, Ben at age 10, daughter, Sherri Senjem; his grandparents, Eddie and Julia Loberg and Elza and Elizabeth Howard; brother, John Loberg; sister, Linda Henry; brother and sisters in-law, Karl Himan, Larris Larsen, Karen Loberg, and Judy Di Marco.

Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeanne Loberg; son in-law, Ray Senjem; grandchildren, Wiley Harang and Karalee Senjem; great-grandchildren, Nahko and Everett; sister, Julie Himan; brothers and sister in-law, Chris Henry, Gus Di Marco, David Appelquist, and Jackie Larsen; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
