Roy Edward Slocum, 48, passed away after a brief battle with cancer, on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City.

Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Pit Row, 19 N Federal, Hampton, Iowa.

Roy Slocum was born on January 7, 1977, to Jim and Shirley (Schumacher) Slocum. He grew up in Sheffield and attended Sheffield-Chapin Community Schools. Roy spent many years working at Woodharbor before joining Omnium, where he worked in the packaging department. He valued his time at Omnium, not just for the work but for the friendships he built—his coworkers became like family to him.

Music was a lifelong passion for Roy, and he especially loved playing the guitar. He was also a movie fan, with a special appreciation for sci-fi films.

Roy’s survivors include his siblings, Jim (Missy) Slocum, Jodi (Greg) Warner, and Gina (Tom) Boehmer; numerous nieces and nephews; and cousin, Andy Ubben; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents.
