Richard Vroman, 91, of Iowa Falls, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Mill Pond Care Center in Ankeny. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, January 20, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at the Union Cemetery, with full military honors. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until service time on Monday at the church. Richard Keith Vroman was born to Annis and Ula Marie (Hurst) Vroman in Clarion, Iowa on March 14, 1933. After he graduated from Iowa Falls High School, Richard joined the United States Army where he honorably served from 1953-1955 while stationed in South Korea during the Korean conflict. He always looked forward to reunions with his old Army buddies.
Richard was united in marriage to Mary Ann Wolf at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls, on October 7, 1956 where they were both lifelong members. He was instrumental in the planning and assisting in the building of their home on Weyrauch Road where they lived for the past 57 years
Richard worked for Iowa Electric Light and Power for 36 years where he was recognized for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing quality service.
In his early years Richard enjoyed bowling, fishing and golfing which led to him helping build the Meadows Hills Golf Course in Iowa Falls.
Richard was a member of the Moose Lodge and liked getting together with his old classmates, playing cards, dominoes and watching sports on TV. He loved telling stories of his childhood experiences and sharing them with others. He was regularly seen on the riding lawn mower working in his yard. During the winters he looked forward to spending time at their home in Arizona. Most of all Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.
Those left to cherish the memory of Richard Vroman are his children, Luann (Gary) Van Lengen of Johnston, Iowa and Linda (Kevin) Patrick of Carroll, Iowa; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Greg) Kirkman, Andrea (John) Meirick, Nichole (Grant) Nidey, Ashlee (Josh) Pudenz, Addison (Alicia) Patrick, Alyssa (Christian) Debban and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Myland (Judy) Vroman of Owatonna, Minnesota; four nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann; parents, Annis & Ula Vroman; father and mother in-law, George and Winifred Wolf; sister, Betty (Robert) Frizzell; brother, William (Glenita) Vroman; sister in-law, Georgene (Jack) Simms and grandson in-law, Sergio Puente.
