Sharon Marie Krominga, 75, passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2025 in her Mason City, Iowa home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Epiphany Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 300 5th St SE, Mason City. Burial will follow at the Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE Mason City, IA. A Scriptural Wake Service will follow at 6:30 PM. The family requests the casual attire be worn at both services as Sharon would have wanted others to feel comfortable.
Sharon was born on March 9, 1949, to Donald and Geraldine (Betts) Osier of Greene, Iowa. A proud graduate of Greene High School, Sharon began her career immediately after graduation, joining MercyOne North Iowa in 1968. Over the next 55 years, she became a dedicated and hardworking Unit Clerk, admired by colleagues for her determination and commitment.
On July 12, 1974, Sharon married Randy Krominga at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greene, Iowa. Together, they raised two daughters and one son. Though their marriage ended in divorce, Sharon and Randy maintained a close friendship rooted in mutual respect.
Sharon’s greatest joy in life was her role as a mother and grandmother. She cherished every moment spent supporting her grandchildren, whether cheering at volleyball games or attending band festivals. Known for her petite stature but big personality, Sharon was feisty, generous, and always put others before herself.
Three men held a special place in her life: Alex Trebek, Bob Ross, and Steve Harvey. She loved watching their shows, along with sitcoms like Roseanne and The Golden Girls. Sharon had a passion for baking, crocheting, and crafting tie-blankets for babies, which showcased her creative and nurturing spirit. She often enjoyed going to the local casinos. Her favorite holiday was the Fourth of July, as she loved celebrating with patriotic pride. Sharon also was a parishioner of Epiphany Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Sharon will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
Those left to cherish memories of Sharon are her children; Angela (Eric) Lukes, Joshua Krominga, and Tamara (Tyler) Richardson; grandchildren, Dylan, Owen and Jenna Lukes, Jacob (Annalise) and Caitlynn Krominga all of Mason City, Iowa; siblings, David (Linda) Osier, Deb (Tom) Heidenwirth, Barb (Steve) Schroeder, Marge (Jerr) Geitzenauer, Donna (Gary) Gerhard, and John (Judy) Osier; sisters-in-law, Jan Osier and Diane Osier; feline companion, Nala; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Sharon is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Randy Krominga; her parents, and a granddaughter, Emma Marie Lukes; siblings, Ronald Osier, Phyllis Groshens, Gene Osier, Lyle Osier, Jim Osier and Daniel Osier.
