James Robert Reiter, son of Robert and Helen Eileen (Nieman) Reiter, was born in Pocahontas on July 29, 1942. He died on December 15, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville at the age of 82 years.
Jim graduated Estherville High School in 1960 before marrying Janice Christenson on October 27, 1962. To this union, three children were born, Terry, Craig, and Brenda.
Jim worked at Golden Sun for 40 years, and he also worked part time at the Good Samaritan Society.
In his free time, Jim enjoyed going to car shows, the NHRA, and casinos.
Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janice of Estherville, his children Terry Reiter (Michael Darling) of Spirit Lake, Craig Reiter and his fiancée Jamie Dayhoff of Remsen, and Brenda Reiter (David Rigby) of Spencer, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Mallory, Tyler, Trevor, Tiffany and Tucker; and 1 great-grandchild, Draven. He is also survived by his siblings: Chuck Reiter, Denny (Linda) Reiter, Mike (Bev) Reiter, Mary (Steve) Bandow, RJ (Kathy) Reiter, and Lisa (Derrick) Hall; and sister-in-law, Diana Reiter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Eileen Reiter; brothers, Bill Reiter and Joe Reiter; sister, Kathy Burkey; niece, Gina Prevenas; and nephews, Marcus Reiter and Tim Reiter.
