Blanca Ochoa, 81, of Fertile passed away Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Manly Care Center.

Private funeral services will be held in her honor. Blanca will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jesus Ochoa, Sr., at Brush Point Cemetery near Fertile.

Blanca was born June 27, 1943, in Crystal City, TX, the daughter of Benito Silva and Santos Flores Garcia. She was one of twelve children born to her parents.

On April 23, 1959, she was united in marriage to Jesus Ochoa, Sr., in Crystal City, Texas and they were blessed with 13 children. In the 80’s they made their home in Fertile where they reconstructed a small house into a large, long-term home for their family.

Blanca was an extraordinary and devoted mother and grandmother whose love, creativity, and spirited personality enriched the lives of all who knew her. A gifted seamstress, she lovingly made all her children’s clothing during their younger years and filled her home with warmth through her exceptional cooking. Christmas was her favorite time of year, celebrated with joy and tradition, especially the cherished annual tamale-making gatherings with her family. Her lifelong passion for music and art shone in the countless paper dolls she crafted for her daughters, sparking their imaginations. A true Texan at heart, Blanca found joy in the outdoors, tending to her vibrant flower gardens and basking in the sounds of mourning doves, which she welcomed through her collection of birdhouses. She was charismatic, opinionated, and unapologetically frank in expressing her views, a trait that made her presence unforgettable. Blanca especially treasured moments spent on the porch with her beloved Jesus, watching the flowers bloom, listening to the birds sing, and cherishing the beauty of the world they had built together.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children Jesus Jr. Ochoa, Dora Paulson, Norma and Kevin Mensch, Baltazar and Irma Ochoa, Melchor Ochoa, Corina and Chane Grooms, Rene Ochoa, Olga Ochoa, Israel and Nicole Ochoa, Maria Ochoa, Bernadette Ochoa, and Lucas Ochoa; grandchildren, Sonya and Uzman Sarfraz, Cynthia Ochoa, Ryan Paulson, Sirena Grooms, Sevanah Thomas, Antonio Thomas, Gabriel Clarke, David Mensch, Kassandra Clarke, Ethan Ochoa, Natasha Ochoa, Brandon Ochoa, Miah Ochoa, and Cruz Ochoa; siblings, Minerva Alva, Nicolas Garcia, Benito Garcia, Jr., Maria De Jesus Escamilla, and Mary Antonia Jaeck.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Ochoa, Sr; parents, Benito and Santos Garcia; siblings, Ismael Garcia, Hermina Garcia, Jose Guadalupe Garcia (Stillborn), Amparo Martinez, Ramiro Garcia, and San Juanita Villegas; and a son, Gaspar Ochoa.
