Jacquelyn “Jackie” Schmidt, 79 of Algona, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Algona. Services will be live streamed via Lentz Funeral Home’s website https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/jacquelyn-schmidt. Inurnment will take place in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Fenton. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Algona.
Jacquelyn Ann Schmidt, the daughter of Raymond and Madeline (Larson) Priebe, was born on July 10, 1945, in Estherville, Iowa. She attended school at Sentral in Fenton and graduated with the class of 1963. After graduation, Jackie attended the community college in Mason City. On March 1, 1964, Jackie was united in marriage to Kenny Schmidt. The couple were blessed with two sons: Rick and Ryan. The marriage later dissolved.
Jackie was a bookkeeper for several different businesses throughout her life and retired in 2003. She adored her children, grandchildren, and the kids whom she babysat. Jackie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cross stitching, reading books, solving word puzzles, baking, and being outdoors watching the wildlife.
Left to cherish Jackie’s memory are her sons: Rick (Viki) Schmidt of Wellsville, KS and Ryan (Erin) Schmidt of Burt; grandchildren: Whitney (Ian) Barnhart of Olathe, KS, Jacob Schmidt of Wellsville, KS, Emma (Adam) Denner of Dyersville and Kellen (Olivia) Schmidt of Cedar Falls; great grandchildren: Oliver, Ellie, and Eamon Barnhart; siblings: Don Priebe of Hackensack, MN, Barb (Jim) Schmidt of Keswick, IA, Carl (Anna) Priebe of Shenandoah, IA, and Darlene (Keven) Brace of Ames, IA, and several nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents: Raymond and Madeline Priebe.
Memorials may be directed to Loving Hands Nursery, 201 E. Nebraska Street, Algona, Iowa 50511, in honor of Jackie.
