Two Iowa men face charges after stabbing a victim then retreating to a bar

DUBUQUE - Police were able to track down the suspects in a brutal stabbing incident using camera footage, and they soon made arrests near a bar in Illinois.

DUBUQUE – Police were able to track down the suspects in a brutal stabbing incident using camera footage, and they soon made arrests near a bar in Illinois.

On October 26, 2024, at approximately 2:04 AM, Dubuque police responded to the area of 9th and Main Streets for the report of a subject that had been stabbed. The victim was identified as 21-year-old Hunter Guyon of Dubuque. The investigation revealed Guyon and several other subjects were walking on Main St. when a vehicle pulled up and a verbal altercation took place between the occupants of the vehicle and Guyon, along with the others he was with. The vehicle eventually drove away, but pulled up next to Guyon and the subjects again as they were near 9th and Main Streets. The passenger of the vehicle then got out and stabbed Guyon in the abdomen causing serious injury. The vehicle then fled. Traffic cameras were utilized to give officers a detailed description of the offender.

The vehicle was subsequently located outside of a bar in East Dubuque, where the offender was ultimately located and identified as 22-year-old Gabriel Dominguez of Sherril, IA. The driver was identified as 22-year-old Scott Wessels of Dubuque.

Dominguez was charged with Attempted Murder and Going Armed with Intent. Wessels was charged with Accessory After the Fact (felony). Both were arrested in Jo Daviess County, Illinois and are awaiting extradition to Dubuque.
