OBIT: Virginia Erickson

Virginia Marie Erickson, the daughter of Edward and Lula (Zublar) Bradley passed peacefully with her family by her bedside on November 26, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville at the age of 78 years.

Virginia Marie Erickson, the daughter of Edward and Lula (Zublar) Bradley, was born on August 27, 1946, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She passed peacefully with her family by her bedside on November 26, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville at the age of 78 years.

Virginia lived her entire life in Palo Alto and Emmet County. She graduated from Graettinger High School in 1964 before attending Mankato Commercial College. She married Earl H. Erickson on September 16, 1967 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville. To this union two sons were born, Eric and Christopher. Virgina was a caretaker, she had a big heart and took many people under her wing. She was a part of the Big Sister program, but also helped many others privately.

She worked as a switchboard operator for Avera Holy Family Hospital and then for DHS in Emmet County for 28 years, retiring in 2004. Virginia was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters, the Advisory Board for Case Management and the ECHO Friends Board.

In her free time, Virginia enjoyed antiques, reading and was a certified master gardener. Virginia and Earl had a very large garden and enjoyed bringing many of their goods to the farmer’s market for many years. She also was a very good baker; her specialties were anything with rhubarb.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 57 years, Earl Erickson; sons, Eric and Christopher Erickson (Michael); honorary son, Jose Rodriguez; granddaughter, Evelyn; siblings, Eddie (Ron) Omundson, JoAnn (Larry) Enderson, Keith Bradley, and Don (Kim) Bradley; brother-in-law Ed (Patricia) Erickson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lula (Zublar) Bradley, brothers, LeRoy, Leo and Gerald (ViAnn), and sisters, Irene Laidig, Delores (Earl) Carlson, Ellen (Al) Steenson, Regina Hudgins, and Wilma (Buck) Johnson.
