Bruce A. Hanson, the son of John L. and Marion K. (Davis) Hanson, was born on December 18, 1958 in Estherville, Iowa. He got called home to heaven on November 23, 2024 at his home in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 65 years.
Bruce graduated from Sherburn High School before enlisting in the United States Navy and was stationed on the USS Saratoga. A few years later he married Janice Schmitt and the couple moved to Pennsylvania. To this union Bruce and Janice had two daughters Crystal and Cassandra. Following Bruce’s discharge from the Navy the couple made their home in Iowa; this marriage was later dissolved. Bruce was active in the Iowa National Guard for many years. In 1992 he was united in marriage to Rhonda Slagle and to this union four children were born: Emily, Alyssa, Hannah, and Levi. The family lived in Eagle Grove for 21 years. The couple divorced in 2013, and Bruce made his way back to Estherville.
Bruce worked as an over the road truck driver for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed watching football; specifically, the Vikings, going to the casino to play slots, playing Monopoly Go and spending time with his family. He loved his dog Lily and was always sharing his meals with her. Bruce was a great brother, an amazing Dad and Grandpa and loved by many people.
He is survived by his children, Crystal (Scott) Wike, Cassandra (David) Wagenknecht, Emily (Ben Barrett) Hanson, Alyssa (Lucas) Eichens, Hannah Hanson, Levi (Jordyn) Hanson; 14 grandchildren; and his siblings, John Hanson, Mike Hanson, Jeanne Baker, Kenny (Mel) Hanson, and David Hanson.
Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, John and Marion (Davis) Hanson and his brother, Steve Hanson.
