Women’s College Basketball: Iowa defeats Drake, 86-73

DES MOINES – The Iowa Hawkeyes invaded the Knapp Center in Des Moines to battle the Drake Bulldogs, with the team from the Big Ten claiming a 86-73 victory.

The Hawkeyes are 4-0 to start Jan Jensen’s tenure, making her the second coach in program history to do that, joining Angie Lee who started 7-0 in 1995-96.

Iowa has won 20 of the last 21 against Drake. The Hawkeyes improved to 31-25 in the all-time series. It was Iowa’s largest margin of victory at the Knapp Center since 2012.

Hannah Stuelke registered her 40th career game in double figures which is fifth-most in program history since 2020.

Lucy Olsen scored 18 points going 7-of-15 from the floor. Olsen has reached double figures in all four career games with Iowa.

Addi O’Grady recorded a career-high with 27 points (13-21 FG) and 10 rebounds. O’Grady is shooting a team-best 30-for-41 from the floor this season. In the first quarter, O’Grady was 7-of-7 from the field which ties for third in a single quarter in program history. O’Grady recorded her second career double-double and first of the season for Iowa.

Teagan Mallegni registered a career-high with 13 points, she made three treys which was also a career best. Mallegni, O’Grady, and Olsen accounted for 38 or Iowa’s 45 points in the first half.

Affolter and Olson registered six assists a piece which tied for a team-best.

The Hawkeyes closed the first half on an 18-3 run over the last 5:30.

Iowa had five players register double figures.

Iowa had 19 assists on 34 field goals.

Since 2020, the Hawkeyes lead the country in games with 80+ points scored offensively. (109)

Since 2020, Iowa is 95-14 when recording 80+ points.

The Hawkeyes have won 113 games since 2020-21 which ties for fourth-best nationally. (113-30)

The Hawkeyes outscored the Bulldogs in the paint, 46-10.

The Hawkeyes will hit the road to face Kansas in a neutral site tilt at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. (CT). The game is set to broadcast on BTN and the Hawkeye Radio Network.
