IOWA CITY – After playing in two-straight NCAA Tournament finals, the un-ranked Iowa Hawkeye women’s Basketball team begins play tonight versus the Missouri Western State Griffons. The game will be on BTN+.
Iowa welcomes six newcomers to the 2024-25 roster. Iowa has only had five or more new student-athletes on three occasions since 2010. (2011-12, 2012-13, and 2016-17) Villanova transfer, Lucy Olsen was the NCAA’s third leading scorer last season, and ESPN’s No. 4 overall transfer available following the 2023-24 season. The Hawkeyes also brought in five players that make up the ninth-rated class by ESPN.com: No. 40 Ava Heiden, No. 58 Aaliyah Guyton, No. 64 Teagan Mallegni, No. 91 Taylor Stremlow, and Miss Iowa Basketball, Callie Levin. It was the first time in program history, Iowa had signed four ESPN.com top-100 prospects. Olsen was third in the country in scoring (23.3 ppg) last season behind Caitlin Clark and USC’s JuJu Watkins.
The Hawkeyes return eight lettewinners and welcome six newcomers to the 2024-25 roster.
Iowa has the longest active streak in the nation scoring at least 80 points per game in four consecutive seasons.
Jan Jensen became Iowa’s fifth head coach in program history on May 13, 2024. Jensen owns a 0-0 (.000) record and a 0-0 (.000) conference mark at Iowa. She also hired her own assistant coaches soon thereafter.
Lucy Olsen and Hannah Stuelke were named Preseason First Team All Big Ten by the coaches and the media on Sept. 26, 2024.
This is the first meeting between Iowa and Missouri Western all-time.

General public seating for the 2024-25 season sold out for Iowa women’s basketball on Sept. 25, 2024 for the second consecutive year.
