OBIT: Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Klesel

Elizabeth "Liz" Ann Klesel, 60, of Mason City, passed away peacefully under the care of MercyOne North Iowa Hospice at her home on Monday, October 28, 2024. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Fullerton Funeral Home.

Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Klesel, 60, of Mason City, passed away peacefully under the care of MercyOne North Iowa Hospice at her home on Monday, October 28, 2024. Fullerton Funeral Home is caring for Liz and her family.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 2nd St SE, Mason City. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024 with Pastor Jane Harris officiating. Following the service, Elizabeth will be laid to rest at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.

Elizabeth was born on January 2, 1964 in Mason City to Roger and Mary (Nestvedt) Pedelty. Liz graduated from Mason City High School in 1982. Liz was united in marriage on June 8, 1985 to David Klesel at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Mason City. During this union Liz attended and graduated from Hamilton Business college in 1991.Prior to adding children to their family Liz enjoyed spending time going to car shows with David; getting to show off their ‘77 Monte Carlo. adding two daughters; one in 1994, the other in 1996. She enjoyed going somewhere special on the wedding anniversary such as Liz’s favorite place to go the Cabin in Decorah, IA. Liz worked at JC Penny’s, Kentucky Ridge, and most recently, Homestead Assisted Living of Mason City as a cook.

In her younger years, she absolutely loved going roller skating. Liz liked reading; especially Nora Roberts romance novels. She was very artistic and liked painting ceramics and attending craft shows. She enjoyed going to farmer’s markets with her daughters and flower gardening. Liz was known for her holiday baking; her family loved her homemade caramels and monster cookies. Liz was notorious for always having her Diet Pepsi, she couldn’t go without it. Liz binge watched Lifetime movies and Christmas in July Hallmark movies. Her all-time favorite movie was “Dirty Dancing.” She was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Bears fan. Liz was an easy-going kind of mom; she loved her family and being ‘Meemaw’ to her grandchildren. She will be dearly remembered and missed by all who loved and knew her.

In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth requested stuffed animals/teddy bears, which will be donated to the local police department and hospital.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Dave Klesel; daughters: Melissa (Corey) Klesel and Shannon Klesel; siblings: Marty (Carolyn) Pedelty, Kirk (Melanie) Pedelty, Jodi (Jon) Johnson, Pam Theilen and Rich (Kristy) Pedelty; grandchildren: Raelynn Martinson and Owen Martinson; brother-in-law, Mike (Traci) Klesel; sister-in-law, Julianne Klesel; several aunts and uncles; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Mary Pedelty; parents-in-law, Robert and Lucille Klesel; brother, Dale (LaVonne) Pedelty and nephew, Danny Jensen.
