Corey G. Mead, age 54, of Osage, IA, passed away on September 2nd, 2024, at Mayo Clinic due to complications of Merkel Cell Carcinoma, a very rare and aggressive skin cancer.
Corey was born on August 11th, 1970 in Huron, SD to Nancy and Loren Mead. He graduated from Huron High School. He went on to serve in the United States Army during the Persian Gulf War, and was honorably discharged as a Specialist in 1997. The years following his service, he held a variety of jobs including welding, pipe fitting, farming, roofing, plumbing and most recently, truck driving. He was a man of many talents and truly a jack of all trades.
He is survived by his loving children: Candice Bentley, Michael Lawson, Loren Mead, Byron Mead (Barbara De Martino), Dillon Bentley (Jenise Bentley), Jessika Jilk (Mathew Jilk), Isaac Hubka (Elizabeth Hubka), Hanna Swancutt, and Claudia Mead. His adored grandchildren: Samantha Mead, James and Levi Jilk, Jack and Charlotte Bentley, and Alice Mead. He is also survived by his sister Delores Mcnutt (Kendall Mcnutt) and their children Michael and Stephanie Mcnutt.
He is preceded in death by his parents Loren and Nancy Mead, and his sisters Ginger and June Mead.
Corey was a kind, hardworking man who loved his children and grandchildren more than anything. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed long motorcycle rides.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, September 9th, 2024 with visitation starting at 11:30 AM at First Baptist Church (108 Chatfield Ave NW Preston, MN 55965). He will be laid to rest at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery (715 US-52, Preston, MN 55965).
