ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN – The sixth ranked University of Iowa field hockey team fell to the No. 2 North Carolina, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Oker Field.
The Hawkeyes and Tarheels played a scoreless first half, before North Carolina struck first at the 36:15 mark. Three minutes later North Carolina extended their lead to two.
Iowa would cut into the Tarheel lead in the fourth quarter with a goal coming from Miranda Jackson on a rebounded penalty corner, but the Hawkeyes were unable to find an equalizer in the final 10 minutes of the contest.
North Carolina outshot the Hawkeyes 24-to-4 and had 14 penalty corners to the Hawkeyes one. Mia Magnotta had five saves for Iowa.

Iowa moves to 1-1 on the season.
Miranda Jackson’s goal is her first of the season and the sixth of her career.
